Risk Assessed Workshops (RAM I & II), Hays

K-State Research and ExtensionIs crop insurance confusing to you, and marketing your grain even more over-whelming?
If so there is help out there, come to Hays on February 6 or 7th and learn from Extension specialists Art Barnaby and Dan O’Brien at the Risk Assessed Workshops. RAM I, “The Basics”, is designed for participants that are new to pre-harvest selling using marketing tools and have a limited understanding of the crop insurance contract. Participants that want a more in-depth workshop experience should consider participation in a RAM II, the following day on Thursday, Feb. 7th.  The RAM II program will involve more sophisticated marketing strategies and risk-management tools.
Both of these workshops utilize a case study, with participant’s managing a typical grain farm. Participants will have the opportunity to select type and level of crop insurance, decide on FSA program participation, and then to work through a typical grain marketing year.
RSVP and a $15 registration fee are requested. The deadline has been extended to Monday, Feb. 4th.  Call the Ellis County Extension Office at 785-628-9430.
