KFIX Rock News: Cheap Trick Release Video For “I Want You For Christmas”

A video for Cheap Trick’s brand-new holiday tune, “I Want You for Christmas,” got its TV premiere Thursday on VH1 Classic to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the release of the first A Very Special Christmas charity album.

The tune, a re-worked rendition of the power-pop band’s classic hit “I Want You to Want Me,” appears on the new compilation A Very Special Christmas 25th Anniversary, which is the eighth installment in the series.

The clip, which also can be viewed on demand now at VH1.com, makes clever use of marionette likenesses of Cheap Trick’s members.

In the video, the rocking puppets take a shine to a sexy female elf who they see preparing holiday cookies and trimming a Christmas tree in a house across the street from them.

Over the years, the A Very Special Christmas album series has raised a whopping $100 million for the Special Olympics.
