KHAZ Real Country Music News: Glen Campbell’s Last Video, “A Better Place,” Debuts Online
Glen Campbell‘s final planned video, for his recent song “A Better Place,” premiered online Wednesdayat AOL Music, Spinner and The Boot. The clip features the singer/guitarist — who plans to retire soon after having been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease last year — looking at an album of photographs from throughout his life.
The video also includes a cameo by Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, who portrays a ghostly bartender who peruses the photo book with the 76-year-old country star. The clip also cuts to scenes of Campbell lip-synching to the tune while playing an acoustic guitar.
At the end of the video, a message from Campbell scrolls across the screen that reads, “I’ve done a lot in my life — played, sang, toured, hosted a TV show, acted in a movie — most of the things that happened were because of the music, and now it’s just time to close that book. I would like to thank all of my fans who’ve made my world ‘A Better Place’ since my career began in 1958.” He goes on to send out love to his wife, Kim, and his children.
“A Better Place,” which Campbell co-wrote with Julian Raymond, appears on the singer’s 2011 album, Ghost on the Canvas. Campbell continues to perform dates on his farewell tour, which is now scheduled to run until late August. Check out his upcoming itinerary at GlenCampbellMusic.com.
