KFIX Rock News: Sgt. Pepper Album Cover Gets Updated By Original Artist

Peter Blake, the artist who created the original Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover in 1967, is celebrating his 80th birthday by “updating” the original image.

The new version (pictured right) will feature images of Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Danny Boyle,Elvis Costello, John Hurt, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dame Helen Mirren and Kate Moss.  Paul McCartney, who also appeared on the original, will be included in the new version as well.

Of the new version, Blake said, “I’ve chosen people I admire, great people and some who are dear friends,”
