Kansas State Can’t Hold On To Halftime Lead At Texas

Austin, TX – J’Covan Brown posted a game-high 23 points to lead the Texas Longhorns to a 75-64 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats in a Big 12 Conference showdown at the Frank Erwin Center.

Alexis Wangmene finished with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds to help pace Texas (16-9, 6-6 Big 12), while Myck Kabongo and Sheldon McClellan chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Angel Rodriguez scored 15 points to lead the way for KSU (17-7, 6-6), while the trio of Rodney McGruder, Will Spradling, and Adrian Diaz all registered 11 points in a losing effort.

The Wildcats held the Longhorns to a miserable 28.0 percent from the floor during the first period of play, opening a commanding 40-27 halftime lead for KSU.

The second half told a different story, however, as Texas shot at a blistering 68.8 percent clip and added 22-of-28 at the foul line to take the 11-point verdict.

The Longhorns converted 35-of-48 at the foul line overall during the meeting.
